Summer Stars Camp

Become a Summer Star! These week-long camps for kids ages 5–8 are the perfect introduction to the magical world of theater. Featuring an array of activities including puppets, music, dance, improvisation, story-telling, arts and crafts, and physical exercise, each week will focus on a new theme. Emphasis is placed on joyful participation, respectful listening, and creative movement.

Drama I

Learn acting fundamentals such as improvisation, characterization, emotional recall, sense memory, stage stunts, and more!  Actors will work to create a class play with costumes and props.

Completion of Drama I is a prerequisite for matriculation into NMYA’s Advanced Drama program.

Musical Theater Intensive

Back by popular demand, our Musical Theater Intensive is designed to deepen an actor’s knowledge of and skills in musical theater performance. Actors will dive into all the components of musical theater: acting, dance, voice and speech, singing, audition preparation and more in our summer intensive, culminating in a cabaret performance for family and friends.

4th Annual Summer Shakespeare Fest

Speak, play, and act all things Shakespeare in this four-week immersion into the world of the Bard. Favorite sessions include stage combat and Shakespearean insults. Students will prepare scenes from Macbeth and present a performance at 6:30 pm on Thursday, June 25 at our 4th Annual Shakespeare Fest for families.

Ages: 9–19
*Note: There are no prerequisites for participation in the Shakespeare Fest, but it is strongly recommended students are reading at their own grade level or above.

Costume & Prop Design Workshop

Looking for hands-on experience in the world of costuming and prop design? Work with NMYA’s Costume Designer Aba Ortiz to design and create costumes and props for actors in the 4th Annual Summer Shakespeare Fest. Students will learn elements of design, sewing, and tailoring to create bespoke costumes and props for Macbeth. No prior sewing experience necessary. Come ready to learn!
